Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. My favourite summer dress: Vallis dress

I had the Vallis tunic and dress* already on my sewing list for some time. With our summer holiday in sight I decided it was time to sew it up, and now I have a new favourite summer dress!
The Vallis by Sofilantjes is a quick sew and has a wow factor when you wear it! The bodice and back is always the same but it includes different ways to sew up the seam. I used the asymmetrical seam and I love it, but I love asymmetrical garments so no surprise there. I am only 162, while the pattern is drawn for 168 cm. I did not shorten it because I like my dresses to be on my knee. Keep that in mind when you are sewing up your dress.
The Vallis is just the perfect summer dress because it is nice and flowy, look at my twirl below, it covers a belly quite nicely. So you don't have to keep in mind what you eat during summer and it covers your bra straps nicely. Next time I would maybe lower the armpits by 1 cm to get an even better fit. Now I just need to sew it up for our girls.

Pattern: Vallis tunic and dress by Sofilantjes (also available for girls)
Options: there are two waist options, a regular waist and an empire waist option. With the 1/2 circle skirt regular skirt there are 3 different ways to sew the seam (a regular round seam, a handkerchief seam, and an asymmetrical seam). It has a tunic length and a dress length. 
Difficulty: It is an easy pattern to sew (2 out of 4)

One Thimble 17: Big Day Out Jacket

I just love blog tours! It is so nice to see the different perspective of different sewers on the same projects. The One Thimble Magazine* is a great way to bet to know different designers in one magazine. For me this was my first time sewing something from One Thimble. Although I have sewed a pattern that was part of a previous version from One Thimble ( Orbis Sinny Harem Pants  by Sofilantjes in One Thimble 13 ).  In the newest One Thimble, issue 17 I sewed the Big Day Out Jacket by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns .  The Big Day Out Jacket is a denim jacket. My version looks like a denim jacket but actually I sewed the jacket from french terry and sweat fabrics with a denim look. With this jacket you can go all out! You can add embellishments, use different types of fabrics or different colours. It really is a garment you can go all out! I love the jacket!
