Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Release of the moonbeam swimsuit

Ever since I sewed my first swimsuit I have overcome my fear for sewing swimwear. Nevertheless, I have not sewed one since then. Then I saw a tester call for the Moonbean Swimsuit by Petite Stitchery*, wow, I loved the cut-out version right away! I was one of the lucky testers to be chosen to test the Moonbeam Swimsuit.
I sewed two swimsuits during the test because there were small changes in the pattern. And now I just love sewing swimwear. You get to sew an original swimsuit (I love original one of a kind patterns) and you don't need much fabric. You do need some specific haberdasheries like swimelastic and swimsuit lining. I sewed the elastic with a regular zigzag stitch. I also have my coverlock, but I prefer my regular sewing machine. What I like about this pattern is that it uses the trunk length to adapt the pattern for different lengths and I really like that way of adapting a pattern for length.

The Moonbeam swimsuit has several options and actually is a quick sew. There is a one piece swimsuit and a cutout swimsuit, which I sewed. Additionally, you can sew a swim dress with pockets (!!) and you can add a flounce. Sizing starts at 2Y and goes up all the way to 17 and also a women's Moonbeam swimsuit is available. I love the look of the cut out swimsuit that looks like a bikini, but is a swimsuit. I always have to get the hang of swimming elastic in swimsuits, but after that it is not a difficult pattern at all and looks amazing!
Fabric: the leaves fabric was a coupon at Naaiplezier. The purple and pink lycra comes from Bas Bastiaans. My swim lining and swim elastic come from Lijfgoed.

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
