Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Re-releasing the Candy Wrapper Vest

You remember this peppermint swirl skirt , right?  Candy Castle Patterns  is re-releasing the  Candy Wrapper Vest * and it is a perfect match with the peppermint swirl skirt, or with any other skirt or dress. What I like about this vest is that it is a such a quick sew and perfect for over dresses and skirts. Since I mostly sew dresses, this is perfect to make those dresses with thinner fabrics still wearable during winter. Fabric for this vest needs only 15% stretch so it it perfect for fleece, velour, polar fleece or any other thicker fabrics. I used fleece for the vest so that it is nice and warm. It is a quick sew because it only has three pattern pieces. You don't need to put in the sleeves, they are part of the pattern pieces. With stripes you can see that the stripes continue from the back of the vest to the sleeves. The most time consuming element of the vest are these heart ties. You can also use ribbon to make it even a quicker sew. We love the...

Hacked fairytale dress, twinning with the doll

The fairytale hoodie is one of my favorite patterns from Made by Runi . I love the skirt of the hoodie. Since our girl prefers dresses over vests, I hacked the fairytale hoodie by taking out the zipper and sewing a dress. The first fairytale hoodie  that I made is still one of her favorite coats (too cold now unfortunately). Besides omitting the zipper I also added 3 cm to the bottom of the skirt. Next time I would add even more (probably about 5 cm). The hoodie is not designed to be a dress (lengthwise), but I prefer the dresses I sew to be on the knees so they can wear them for a year of longer. Get the fairtytale hoodie today with 20% discount with the code CHRISTMAS23. In addition I also hacked the front and back of the dress by adding a colour block. The colour blocked sleeves are included in the pattern. I continued the same line form the sleeves to the front and back pieces. Additionally I added another line for the bottom colour block. The first time our d...

Cute as a cupcake

I love those high-low tunics, peplum tops and dresses. Made by Runi has quite a few of those garments, which I made already. Have a look at the cozy dress , the fairytale hoodie  and the fairy princess dress that I made. Also the Cute as a Cupcake  peplum has a high-low skirt. The Cute as a cupcake has three length options, a t-shirt, a peplum (which I made) and a dress length. I lengthened the peplum with 1,5 cm so our girl can wear it as a short dress with leggings underneath. Our girl especially loves the flutter sleeves. The flutter sleeves with long sleeves are perfect for fall and winter, you get the fun part of the flutter sleeves, but warm enough during colder weather. Today only there is a 25% discount on all children's patterns at Made by Runi with the code CHRISTMAS19. A festive outfit for the doll

Besides all the awesome patterns for girls, boys, women and men Made by Runi also has patterns for dolls . Our girls love dolls, especially our second daughter and our youngest love to play with dolls. So sewing an outfit for our dolls was already on my list for a long time and now I finally sewed up an outfit for our doll. The crown headband is the doll version of the Crown headband for adults and kids. I think it is great for birthdays but can also be used for keeping the head warm during winter. Of course our doll also needs to participate in the festivities. The crown can be worn on two sides so can match two different outfits. The crown headband is part of the doll outdoor bundle , which include the crown headband, a cape and a beanie all for 43 cm dolls. To make a whole outfit I used the fairytale bundle to make a dress for our doll. The fairytale bundle includes dolls versions of the following three patterns: the  fairytale hoodie , the fairy ...

Glow in the dark twinning pjs

Our girls love pjs and of course nightgowns are the best. I have already sewed several nightgowns, this one with long sleeves and a ruffle at the bottom, this sleeveless one and another long sleeved one . This time I used a free pattern the  Grow with me Pajamas  by  Ellie and Mac Sewing Patterns *. I thought glow in the dark fabric would be perfect for nightgowns for our girls. The Grow with me pajamas is a very versatile pattern as you can sew for your boys and girls from this pattern and it is for free! It includes pants, a nightgown and several optional features. This pattern only includes long sleeves, but  I cut off part of the sleeves to create short sleeves. I used different colours for the colour block because I knew it would be difficult to recognise each size of pjs after laundry. Still I am struggling to remember which colour belongs to who again.  The girls love their nightgowns. I did lessen the flaring out of the nightgowns because ...

Snowshoe cuffs as a present

Sofiona Designs always lives up to bringing new exciting patterns, at least that is what I think. Also this time they deliver, they designed a bracelet that is quick and so much fun to sew and great as a present (think Christmas gifts). The best part about it all is that you can get the Snowshoe Cuff for free if you sign up for the newsletter. You can do that with the black box on the right side on their website ! I just love this Snowshoe cuff because the design is so clever, it is a quick sew and it is perfect as a gift. You actually don't need a sewing machine (unless you using fabric that frays, you might want to consider sewing the edges). You need a rotary cutter, some snaps and scraps. That is another part that I like, you can use all those small leftovers. The pattern is designed for heavier non fray fabrics, such as (faux) leather, cork, suede, scuba. Already during testing many different fabrics were used. I used ...

Galaxie 3: travel bags

Jalie has just released Galaxie 3: travel accessoires . This is a package that includes 3 different bags that are perfect for your travels. These include: Jet (a travel pouch/passport holder), Eclips (a purse organizer) and Supernova (a packable tote bag). I sewed the small purse organizer, which I am showing you today.  I think the Galaxie 3 is a great bundle of patterns, very useful for travelling and great as a gift .  The best part is that you do not need any interfacing, so it is just non stretch fabric that you need. There are 3 patterns includes, of which two you can make in a small and large size. I made the small Eclipse, so the small purse organizer. Something I wanted to sew for a long time, but never found the time to do so. A deadline is always the best way for me to actually finish a project quickly. The pattern has 8 outer pockets, one zipper pouch and four compartments. So enough room to store my wallet, keys, tissues and all the other stuff that is n...
