Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Bahari swimsuit release

I always find it hard to find great swimsuits for our girls. Either the fit is not so good or the design is not what we both like. I have sewed several swimsuits mostly for our eldest and I always love the result. Now our middle daughter wanted a bikini as well so I sewed up the Bahari swimsuit from Bella Sunshine Designs* for her, which is released today.
It is a great pattern for when you haven't sewn many swimsuits before and you can add a flounce or skirt if you like. Since I made a skirted bottom last year for our middle one I sewed one without a skirt. I did add a flounce, which everybody here at home thought would end up as a skirt. Blending for different width and lengths for the sizes might be tricky, but Bella Sunshine Designs has a very clear video explaining how to blend for the Bahari. Be sure to check that out.
Making photos of a swimsuit without a swim pool or nice water close-by was a new challenge. I tried to create a watery feel with the bath towel, chairs and sunglasses. Our eldest loved the setup. Our middle one loved making photos in the set up and showing off her new swuimsuit. A one piece swimsuit is also an option to which you can add a skirt or flounce as well. The fit is great and covers well.
The Bahari swimsuit Girl's is now on sale for only $9. Also the Ladies and babies Bahari swimsuit are released and are on sale. The Bahari Swimsuit for babies includes sizes preemie to 24M and includes the coverage over a swim diaper.

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

Brianna Dress - DG Patterns Blog Tour

I have a soft spot for asymmetrical patterns. So when I saw the Brianna Dress by  DG Patterns * I instantly loved it.  Today I am part of the DG patterns blog tour. We are all showing one of the patterns by DG patterns. At the bottom of the post you can see who else is participating, a discount code by our sponsor  Southern Bell Fabrics  and the fabric giveaway. Enjoy! The Brianna Dress has two asymmetrical features, the dress itself has a asymmetrical shape and there is an asymmetrical neckline option. It also has a round and a V-shape neckline option, so there are three different necklines from which you can choose. I of course chose the asymmetrical neckline. Usually when I start with a pattern I cut my pattern pieces before I start reading the instructions, I know, not always the best approach. This time I browsed through the instructions and luckily I found out in time that you have to tape two pattern pieces together before cutting the fabric. O...

One Thimble 17: Big Day Out Jacket

I just love blog tours! It is so nice to see the different perspective of different sewers on the same projects. The One Thimble Magazine* is a great way to bet to know different designers in one magazine. For me this was my first time sewing something from One Thimble. Although I have sewed a pattern that was part of a previous version from One Thimble ( Orbis Sinny Harem Pants  by Sofilantjes in One Thimble 13 ).  In the newest One Thimble, issue 17 I sewed the Big Day Out Jacket by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns .  The Big Day Out Jacket is a denim jacket. My version looks like a denim jacket but actually I sewed the jacket from french terry and sweat fabrics with a denim look. With this jacket you can go all out! You can add embellishments, use different types of fabrics or different colours. It really is a garment you can go all out! I love the jacket! I have sewed an  Ainslee Fox Boutique pattern before when I sewed the wedding dress for...
