Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. This year's Christmas dress: Lillith dress

This year I made new Christmas dresses for the two oldest girls. They are not necessarily Christmas dresses as in typical dresses for Christmas, but they did wear them during Christmas. For the eldest I chose the Lillith dress by Zwergnase - Design. This was the perfect way to round up my digital pattern challenge! This is the 8th pattern that I have used in the last 4 months that I had bought but did not use yet.
The Lillith dress is another German pattern from Makerist, which I have used more often lately (see the Tilt dress, Arja coat, Fuzzle sweater and Issy dress). I love the unique elements of the German patterns. With this dress I like the shawl-like collar. In the pattern it is a double sided collar but I used just one piece with the soft inside of the fabric on the outside. The pattern starts at 74 and goes up to women's sizes. The pattern is split up between sizes 74-110 and 116-158.
So coming back to the Digital Pattern Challenge that I participated in the last 4 months. It was a great challenge to push me to go back to the pattern that I own and did not sew yet. The challenge was to sew 8 new patterns in 4 months. The result: Yes, I made it! I sewed 8 new patterns in 4 months (in total I sewed (blogged about) 28 pieces of clothing in these 4 months of which 8 were new patterns (pattern tests excluded)).
Fabric: thick and soft jogging (no idea what it is called) fabric that I bought at Stoffenstraat

Below a list of all the 8 new patterns that I used:
1) Access and accessibility t-shirt: a t-shirt with nursing access
2) Wendybird dresses: two lovely dresses for both our girls
3) Nivalis dress: I hacked a nivalis dress to have nursing access
4) Arja Softshell Coat: softshell coat with a baby add on
5) Issy dress: Colour blocking dress with a collar
6) Bubby & Bee Hoodie: Hoodie without the hood
7) Darcy dress: an asymmetrical dress with lots of twirl
8) Lillith dress

As this is also the last post in 2018, my final round up of fabric is: this week 0 in - 3 out (2018: bought 63 - used 100 fabric - used 6 gifted fabric - used 32 scrap pieces of fabric) - in total 63 in 138 out.

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
