Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Montis Tunic and Dress Release

The summer dresses (and tunic) patterns by Sofilantjes* are always a hit in our house. So is the new Montis Dress (also available in Dutch) that I made during testing. My husband thinks it is the best thing I ever sewed. Since my husband is always my most critical audience, that definitely says something. And of course my daughter has been wearing it since I finished it. It has a twirl, it has nice chameleons on it, it has pockets, what else does a girl want!
Montis, the name of the pattern, is latin for mountain as the dress looks like a mountain. The Montis Tunic and Dress (12M - 14 years) has two options for the top. The first option has three straps on the back and is lined. The second option has just one strap in the front and the back and is not lined, which is perfect for hot weather. The front and back of both options look the same. You can make the dress with tunic length or dress length.
I made the second option with just one strap. As always with the Sofilantjes patterns, the fit is spot on. And an added bonus is that it looks so different from the previous Sofilantjes dresses. Luckily it is a quick sew, I was ill and had to finish the dress before the deadline. Within 1,5 hours I had cut the fabric and sewed the dress. The most time-consuming was cutting my own bias band and sewing the bias band on the bottom of the dress. I love the result. You can also add a rolled hem to the dress.

    1. Ik was eigenlijk verbaasd dat hij dit jurkje zo mooi vond, dacht dat het niet zijn stijl zou zijn. Maar altijd fijn om complimenten te krijgen op je naaiwerk toch?

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
