Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. A colourblock BeeStyle

I love colour blocking, I think everybody knows that by now. And I love bold colour combinations. This t-shirt is the perfect example of that. I got to know this pattern through her of course (Inspinration). You can see she also made two bold versions of this pattern.
It is a German pattern, BeeStyle, with great colour blocking potential. It has many different options: different hoods, a collar, two different types of pockets (she of course added a pocket), a regular and a tunic length and you can add a thumbhole cuffs. It is the perfect pattern for a sweater but can also be used to sew a t-shirt. Although the instructions are in German every step is accompanied with a photo and since I am a visual person, I mainly needed the photos to sew the t-shirt. I did not have any problems with assembling the pattern.

Our girl loves thumbhole cuffs ever since I sewed this t-shirt. So I added the option to this shirt. I love the way these thumbholes are made, it looked a bit complicated at first, but when I just followed the instructions, all went well. The pattern is available in European sizes 74 (which is for height 74 cm, which is in US sizing 9-12M) until 170 (for 170 cm height, which in US sizing is >14Y).
Fabric: Princess castle by Lillestoff, the pink stripes come from Hoofs in Den Bosch, de orange strips are from my fabric outlet in Italy and the green flowers come from Stoffen.net

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
